Through the years, yoga has become an integral part of my life. Although yoga holds many physical health benefits including increasing flexibility, increasing strength and even help make our blood vessels and arteries more subtle, I find that to me, yoga is more about clearing my head space than anything else. I find that the asana (posture) practice in a class or when practicing on my own, helps slow down my busy mind and takes me to a comfortable space where I can meditate for longer and more effectively.
My love for yoga has brought me to Byron Bay Yoga Centre. With its’ beautiful and tranquil setting, this was the perfect place for me to become trained as a yoga teacher in January 2015. I found that being on – site 24/7 for 12 whole days, living and breathing yoga, yoga philosophy and enjoying the delicious vegetarian sattvic food, was the perfect environment to grow into a dedicated Yogini and yoga teacher. Last month I went back to Byron Bay Yoga Centre, but this time to enjoy a three day retreat. It was another heart opening experience, which has reminded me how yoga is always there for me to help, calm and balance my hectic life.
